Because of the increased spread of Covid-19, Bethany is suspending in person worship until further notice. The health of our people is paramount. In-person worship services will begin again once this latest surge is under control.

Family Promise
Daily Lenten Devotion to Benefit Family Promise
Our Lenten Devotional Calendar has become an annual tradition to help support our Family Promise ministry. Please pick up your Lenten Calendar and donation boxes at the back of the sanctuary Sunday, February 23rd. Each day on the calendar will remind us of how blessed we are to have adequate income, housing and food and ask us to put coins into the Family Promise donation box. Many of you choose to write a single check, which is great, but please be sure to read the devotions each day to reflect on our blessings during this Lenten season.
Let's bring our filled boxes to church on Easter Sunday. All donations will be used to support our ministry, by funding our hosting weeks and by making a cash donation to Family Promise of Greater Phoenix. Each year we have raised over $1,200 through this program, so let's take this worthwhile Lenten journey again this year! Attention Bethany Men!
I have been attending a men's Bible Study during the past few summers while Vera and I stayed cool in the high country. It has been a rewarding experience for me to share fellowship and spiritual experiences together each week in corporate prayer for the needs we recognize in our lives. I so enjoyed it that I would like to form such a group here at Bethany. If any of you Bethany Men would like to join such a group please let me know. Yours in Christ: Jack Stieg

Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest is actively helping the influx of refugees at our southern border. In Phoenix last week alone about 200 people were released each day. With ICE lacking the capacity for growing asylee numbers, families have been released to churches in Phoenix for temporary and transitional shelter until they are capable of traveling to their final destination. You can help by: 1) Volunteer - In Phoenix volunteers are urgently needed for shelter set-up, volunteer check-in, food service, travel assistance (bilingual preferred), driving/escorting, security, shelter breakdown, and much more. If you are interested in helping contact Lutheran Social Services. 2) Collect items - Travel backpacks, medical kits, snack bags, hygiene items, and paper products. The Grand Canyon Synod Assembly Planning Team is working with LSS-SW and Cruzando Fronteras to pull together a list of items to be collected at Synod Assembly in June. When the list is available, we will print in the weekly announcements. If you want to donate items to be given at the Synod Assembly, please bring them to church on a Sunday between now and June. |
Sunday School Classes

Sunday school class begins on September 10th. Sunday school will take place during the 9:00 a.m. service. The kids will gather in the sanctuary at the beginning of worship with their parents. The pastor will invite the kids forward for a short prayer and then be dismissed for class. Classes will be 30 to 35 minutes in duration and the kids will return to the sanctuary to participate in Holy Communion.

Come join the choir!!! All are Welcome!!!
Come and be a part of this very important ministry here at Bethany.
If you're not sure about making the commitment come and give it a try and see how you like it. We are open to all experience levels from the frustrated shower singers to singers with the Metropolitan Opera. No auditions required.
We have lots of fun and good fellowship as we prepare a blend of traditional and contemporary music for the coming weeks.
Joyfully singing,
Randy
