Educational Programs
Sunday School – Weekly Sunday School takes place immediately after worship at 10:15 from September through May. Sunday School at Bethany is for ages three through twelve. Basic Bible lessons along with learning about important Biblical figures (both Old and New Testaments) comprise the content of Sunday School learning. Additionally, children learn about the importance of living in and being a part of the faith community. They will learn through teaching and doing that service is an important component of the Christian faith as well. Confirmation Class – Confirmation Classes are for 7th and 8th graders with students making their confirmation in the fall of their 9th grade year. Confirmation is an intentional course of study covering the Bible (Old & New Testaments) the sacraments (Baptism & Communion), application of faith for daily living. Additionally, students learn about Lutherans as one expression of Christianity. They explore how all Christians are part of a larger faith community that understand Jesus to be pivotal in God’s revelation for how love, service, and salvation are to influence how we live our lives. Book Discussion Group – This group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Each month a book is selected by the group. Novels, memoirs, historical books, and books on current topics are all fair game for selection. Anyone is welcome to this group, even if you have not read the book. Hearing the discussion may inspire you to do so. |
