Bethany Leadership
Karen Maglich
I'm currently President of Bethany’s church Council. I am a product of the Phoenix Osborn Elementary schools having graduated from Grandview. I attended Central High school and was in the 2nd graduating class! Continuing my education, I became a Sun Devil and graduated from Arizona State University with a B. A. in Arts and an M.S. in Science. I am a retired public-school teacher, having taught at Rincon High in Tucson and Coronado High in Scottsdale. I also taught at Grand Canyon University for their on-line Master of Teaching program. I have two adopted adult children. Julie lives in Lawton, Oklahoma and is a Physical Therapist and is about to retire! Rodrigo owns his own construction company here in the Valley. I came to Bethany as a visitor and felt so welcomed by the members and Pastor Larry Stiles, that after a few more visits and prompting from Maija Bilsens and Vera Stieg, I became a member of Bethany. Bethany to me is comfort, friendship, healing and home. It is a safe place to continue growing on my faith journey. |

I attended Pima School, Scottsdale High, and graduated from ASU as an Elementary Education major. I enjoyed teaching second graders for ten years, and then earned my library endorsement, becoming a school librarian which was even more fun. My family joined Bethany in 1965, and were active, faithful members until their passing. I've been a member of our choir since high school and currently serve as the Church Council Secretary. |
Carla Roberts
I have been a member of Bethany for 37 years. During my time at Bethany, I have served in various roles: Sunday school teacher, Council member and president several times, participated in the music program (bells and choir), and assisted with readings and ushering as able. I also helped with Family Promise in preparing food and serving as a chaperone. For the past three years I have helped with the finances, budget, and audit. I am also involved in caring for the roses. Serving Bethany is my way of giving back to others and to the church. |
